The Do's and Don'ts of cosmetic tattoos
Permanent make up is a bit different than your traditional tattoo. Usually performed in a spa or salon, this cosmetic procedure can result in outstanding results on brows, eyes, and lips.
Read on for some Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to cosmetic tattoos:
DO find a reputable salon with experience in cosmetic tattooing. If your friends have had the procedure done, ask yourself if you like the results before heading to that same location.
DON’T make a hasty decision. Shop around and visit several shops. While there, ask to see ACTUAL photos of recently done procedures. Reputable practitioners with lots of experience should have sample books. You definitely don't want any "uh-oh's" when it comes to your face.
DO go with neutral colors. Bright red lip liner may be hard to cover up in a few years if you don’t want them anymore. Eyeliner and brows can be done in several shades, but be careful. You don't know exactly how the color will take to your skin. If unsure, go lighter. You can always darken later.
DON’T expect your permanent make up to be permanent. While your permanent make up may last for decades, know that cosmetic tattoos often fade faster than traditional tattoos. Don't be surprised if you have to go back every few years to keep up your look, especially if you went with lighter colors.
DO discuss cosmetic tattooing with your doctor if you have any eye or skin conditions. The skin on your eyelids and lips is very sensitive. Just because you have a butterfly on your ankle doesn’t mean your eyelids won’t become irritated.
